Ever since American-Canadian soprano Midori Marsh won First Prize and the Audience Choice Award at the 2019 Canadian Opera Company Centre Stage competition, her career has been on a remarkable upward trajectory.  After graduating from the COC Ensemble Studio in 2023, she has twice made her way to the semifinals of the Metropolitan Opera Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition. This year, she was one of two Canadians who competed in the semifinals of that prestigious Met competition. Appointments Vancouver Chopin Society has announced several new appointments. Pianist Charles Richard-Hamelin will be their new artistic director, with pianists Daria Fedorova and Ilya Takser as director of artistic and education programs and chief content executive, respectively. All three musicians have been friends and colleagues since their days studying at Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal. Violinist William Fedkenheuer to become TSM’s next Artistic Director TORONTO (March 28, 2025) – Toronto Summer Music announces today the appointment of new Artistic Director: Canadian violinist and international chamber music player, William (Will) Fedkenheuer. He will take on this role in September following TSM’s 2025 Festival, which runs July 10 – August 2.  Raised in Calgary, Will has built an international career as a violinist, member of the Miró Quartet, and professor at the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas. Toronto – Opera 5 is pleased to announce that we will be the next Company-in-Residence at the Canadian Opera Company. The two-year artistic residency will commence on July 1, 2025, with one of the major collaborations of the partnership being the creation of an operatic work slated for presentation at the Canadian Opera Company.
