Sinfonia Toronto’s varied program presents music from three eras and from Canada, England, France and Vienna. Maestro Arman leads Elgar’s lyrical Serenade, the world premiere of a folk-inspired Sinfonietta by Montreal composer Petros Shoujounian, the premiere of Toronto composer Colin Eatock’s settings of poems by Bengali literary icon Rabindrath Tagore, a famous Romantic solo violin showpiece and a lush orchestral version of Beethoven’s famous Pathétique sonata. Two exciting young Canadian soloists will perform – soprano Kripa Nageshwar in the Eatock songs, and violinist Evan Pyne in Saint-Saëns’ brilliant Romantic virtuoso show-stopper, the Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso.
