This grand musical fresco bears witness to the glory of magnificent Venice! Seldom performed in public, the Vespers of the Blessed Virgin are at once intimate and grand, devout and dramatic, spiritual and passionate.

Monteverdi is recognized as one of the great geniuses in the history of music. In addition to his major contribution to the birth of Western opera, he left us a body of lyrical works of exceptional beauty. His Vespers dedicated to the Virgin Mary stand among his greatest achievements.
