After 40 years of musical experience and over 1,500 performances around the world, Maestro Hamid Motebassem returns to Canada with his ensemble Damsaz. The prolific composer and Iranian tar and setar player will perform with Samira Golbaz, his partner, herself a talented tar and setar player, alongside the well-known Montreal percussionist Ziya Tabassian. “Damsaz,” meaning familiar, harmonious or sharing the same path, pays homage to their ongoing and extensive musical collaboration. Together, they will present exceptional traditional Iranian music demonstrating their synergies as world-class performers.
