Le Ch\u0153ur Bach d\u2019Ottawa chante avec un large \u00e9ventail d\u2019\u00e9motions et de caract\u00e8res, refl\u00e9tant les diff\u00e9rents \u00e9tats \u00e9motionnels pr\u00e9sents dans l\u2019\u0153uvre. Par leur chant agile et virtuose, les choristes en r\u00e9v\u00e8lent la beaut\u00e9, la foi in\u00e9branlable et le tourment. La direction tr\u00e8s nuanc\u00e9e de Canton et sa ma\u00eetrise de la partition sont \u00e9videntes quand le ch\u0153ur passe d\u2019une humeur \u00e0 l\u2019autre. Ce dernier fait preuve d\u2019une clart\u00e9 contrapuntique et d\u2019un travail d\u2019ensemble solide. Sur le plan expressif aussi, l\u2019interpr\u00e9tation est sans faille\u00a0: ang\u00e9lique par moments, joviale, m\u00e9lancolique, pleine de remords ou tourment\u00e9e \u00e0 d\u2019autres. Une prestation vocale inspir\u00e9e du ch\u0153ur et des solistes, coupl\u00e9e \u00e0 un accompagnement de premi\u00e8re classe. La qualit\u00e9 de l\u2019enregistrement est limpide et bien \u00e9quilibr\u00e9e. Un enregistrement de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence tout \u00e0 fait stimulant et inspirant dans un style d\u2019\u00e9poque.<\/p>\n<p>Avec <i>Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied<\/i>, BWV 225, les voix l\u00e9g\u00e8res, a\u00e9riennes et agiles du ch\u0153ur produisent un son limpide. Les m\u00e9lismes virtuoses du ch\u0153ur contribuent \u00e0 une interpr\u00e9tation stimulante et dynamique\u00a0: une musique qui danse, qui vit, qui respire, qui multiplie les inflexions. Le deuxi\u00e8me mouvement est l\u00e9ger et calme, tandis que le troisi\u00e8me est vif et nous propulse vers l\u2019avant. Les impulsions \u00e9nergiques du ch\u0153ur, soutenues par le continuo, sont synchronis\u00e9es de mani\u00e8re experte.<\/p>\n<p>La partition m\u00e9lancolique et expressive de <i>Jesu, meine Freude<\/i>, BWV 227, est rendue avec une diction pr\u00e9cise et de l\u2019\u00e9nergie, donnant vie au motet.
