Ce sont les travailleuses et travailleurs les plus acharn\u00e9s des arts de la sc\u00e8ne. Vous \u00eates une inspiration. \u00bb C\u2019est ainsi que s\u2019exprime le compositeur canadien Daniel Janke au sujet de son nouvel album paru chez Centredisques. Apr\u00e8s <i>Songs of Small Resistance<\/i>, en 2021, il nous revient avec trois cr\u00e9ations de musique de chambre et une derni\u00e8re pour piano solo.<\/p>\n<p>On ne peut que recommander cet album. On est charm\u00e9 d\u00e8s la premi\u00e8re pi\u00e8ce, <i>Martha Black\u2019s Reel<\/i>, par un motif r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9 en boucle qui nous rend accro \u00e0 la musique. On reconna\u00eet l\u00e0 la culture musicale celtique, celle des violoneux, mais bient\u00f4t d\u2019autres influences viennent alimenter les compositions de Daniel Janke.<\/p>\n<p>C\u2019est ensuite une ambiance m\u00e9ditative qui nous accompagne aux sons toujours envo\u00fbtants du violon. La pr\u00e9sence d\u2019une longue p\u00e9dale comme note fondamentale, en dessous ou au-dessus de la m\u00e9lodie ornement\u00e9e, renforce encore davantage cette impression. Le deuxi\u00e8me mouvement du <i>Quatuor \u00e0 cordes n<\/i><i>o <\/i><i>2 <\/i>\u00ab Rivi\u00e8re \u00bb est marqu\u00e9 par de plus fortes tensions, des dissonances n\u00e9es de la friction r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9e entre des demi-tons. Les brefs chromatismes, tr\u00e8s nombreux dans le troisi\u00e8me mouvement, sugg\u00e8rent intelligemment le courant de cette rivi\u00e8re. Dans le quatri\u00e8me et dernier mouvement, on revient \u00e0 quelque chose de m\u00e9ditatif, mais la musique semble ici porter en elle une souffrance sourde.<\/p>\n<p><i>Yaa Asantewaa <\/i>(partie 1) est empreinte d\u2019orientalisme, notamment par le choix du mode mineur et l\u2019impression de libre improvisation qui s\u2019en d\u00e9gage. Quant \u00e0 la derni\u00e8re \u0153uvre au programme, <i>The Bells<\/i>, celle-ci met le piano en pleine lumi\u00e8re. On y retrouve un charme envo\u00fbtant comparable \u00e0 la premi\u00e8re pi\u00e8ce et \u00e0 son motif obs\u00e9dant qui procure une agr\u00e9able sensation de <i>buzz<\/i>.
