The Cantata Singers were originally scheduled to perform Minimalism on March 21, 2020.
On March 12, 2020, as COVID spread, we, like the rest of the world, shut down.
Three years later, and much changed, we are delighted to present for you our original program, featuring excerpts from Philip Glass’s opera Einstein on the Beach, Arvo Pärt’s Berliner Messe, John Tavener’s The Lamb, and recent work by the Toronto composer Hussein Janmohamed, Nur: Reflections on Light. These pieces are haunting, enchanting, clever, and revelatory, and the intervening years have lent them special relevance for us. We’re also thrilled to be joined by Thirteen Strings and to have Max Richter’s On the Nature of Daylight on the program.
We are very excited to perform for you and we hope you can join us for a musical experience unlike any other!
